Ozone, wildfire smoke, and heat. It's what we've been dealing with in and around Brooklyn these last few days, with hopefully just a day or two before the air clears up. It's been another mix of the perfect ingredients to make our air extra yuck. A low pressure system pushed Canadian wildfire smoke downward, causing hazardous breathing conditions in Minnesota. A high pressure system them scooped it up right to the tristate are and beyond. How bad did it/will it get? Thanks to the Kiddie Science air quality sensor, we have access to live and saved data which provides a visual snapshot of how the last few days have been going in terms of AQI. At the time of writing this blog post, the AQI was 95. What does this mean? You can learn more about AQI on a previous blog post or via the Inhale, Exhale educational podcast presented by a very familiar voice. Unfortunately, we should expect another bad air quality day today, with tomorrow possibly being the worst of all. Fingers crossed for some rain and the wind blowing in the right direction.
