Climate Week is here! It's a time when people around the world come together to learn, share, and take action for a healthier planet. But climate change can feel like a big, overwhelming topic, especially for children. That’s why we’ve created the Climate Week Science Guide... The Climate Week Science Guide is a family-friendly way to explore and learn about climate and the environment regardless of your previous knowledge.
This guide is designed for families or educators with children ages 2 to 10, and offers simple activities that help put the vast topic of climate into accessible perspective. From exploring the difference between weather and climate to becoming Energy Detectives, we can discover and learn how everyday actions connect to the bigger picture of caring for our planet. Here’s what you can explore and learn about: What is Climate? – Learn how weather is different from climate. Trees and Clean Air – Learn more about trees and how they protect our air. Water and Weather – See how water shape our city. Energy Detectives – Find ways to save energy at home. How We Move – Explore cleaner ways to get around the city. Waste & Recycling – Sort, measure, and reduce what we throw away. By slowing down, noticing patterns, and asking questions, we have opportunity to notice that science is literally all around us. This creates a deeper connection with our world and helps foster a sense of responsibility in protecting it. Welcome to Climate Week 2025!
