Join neighborhood math educators Amy Hand and Ally Rohrbach for a two-part evening of math exploration that will begin with family math games. While the kids continue their mathematical play, parents will be given an opportunity to discuss fun ways to develop mathematical confidence and competence in their kids.

Students of all ages are now frequently playing math games at school to help build and reinforce number sense, computational fluency, and estimation skills. Join us as we play several different math games suitable for family game night! While playing, you will learn about the math embedded in each game and how the games build students’ mathematical thinking. Beyond Arithmetic: Math Talks With Your Kids Do you want to engage your child in mathematical thinking, but feel like you don’t know how? Are you trying to encourage your child’s mathematical curiosity, but get stuck trying to think past basic arithmetic questions? During this conversation, we will: - Help open your mind to different kinds of math questions that will engage your child. - Provide concrete strategies for asking questions that will build your child’s computational fluency. - Invite you and your child to see math all around you, so that you feel confident exploring impromptu and informal math talks with your kids.
