Great Big Announcement!

10/28/2024

We have some great, big, exciting news!

For eleven years, we have passionately shared the joys of science with thousands of young scientists. Seven years ago, when we moved into the Lab space, our goal was to plant the very first seeds of science there. We've done exactly that, and today, some of those seeds have grown into trees, scattering their own seeds of science far and wide.

Equitable and affordable access to science education has always been our highest priority. Meeting this goal has been challenging with the rising costs of quality science tools and the overhead of a commercial storefront. Despite these obstacles, we’ve continuously sought new ways to reach as many young scientists as possible and fulfill our mission.

And so, the big news… Beginning in December, the Kiddie Science Lab’s on-site programs will start to wind down. In early 2025, we will be closing the physical doors of our Lab in favor of something even bigger and better for our community.

With this shift, we’re thrilled to announce an expanded opportunity to reach a broader audience of young scientists—many of whom would not otherwise have access to science education. Thanks to the support of program directors, PTAs, school administrators, and our grantors, Kiddie Science is already enriching the minds of 303 young scientists at little to no cost to their families. By the end of the school year, this number is expected to double as we roll out additional free programming at local public libraries.

While our physical space will be closing, Kiddie Science is growing stronger and reaching further than ever before. We’re excited to continue planting the seeds of science wherever young minds are ready to grow!

That said, we know that this is a lot to take in and digest, and we understand if this announcement makes you feel a bit sad. Its ok! The Lab has been an amazing place where young minds have flourished in beautiful ways. It's ok to be excited about growth and sad about it too. This is how we grow.

Though the mighty tree is our goal,
it is the spreading of seeds that starts the journey.

The scientific fun continues...
