Once upon a time there was an idea...
I have cried. Shed actual tears over this idea I hold so close to my heart. I've given up on this idea, considered it too big, declaring it a failure much too soon and much too often. Expected and unexpected challenges often stopped me dead in my tracks, taking the wind completely out of me, leaving me defeated.
It has also been absolutely amazing and well beyond my wildest expectations. In my efforts to share my excitement for science, I have been gifted a village. Together we are not only planting the seeds of science far and wide, we are tending to them and watching them thrive.
To date, Kiddie Science has directly impacted the lives of thousands of young scientists throughout the nation. In many cases, generations of young scientists have passed through our figurative, and ultimately literal walls.
The existence of the Lab is a dream come true. Careful thought, love, and influence from beloved mentors blend together to create a space that fosters fun, curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking, and pretty impressive messes. The Lab is loud with excitement and quite with concentration. It's where we learn, explore, and help care for living things.
Closing our physical doors early in the pandemic was necessary, but left me devastated. I was absolutely convinced this was the end of the idea. That's very much not what happened. Instead, the seeds of science that had been planted throughout the years flourished and produced even more seeds. At a time when I felt like giving up on this idea, brand new life was breathed into it. It's been a full eight years of highs, lows, and a global pandemic.
Cheers to ideas! May they inspire you to fulfill your wildest dreams and more.
And special thanks to the village that tends to the seeds of science.
