Science Saturdays: Human Body

4/12/2016

Using simple items, we recreated what happens to food once it is chewed, swallowed, and ends up in our stomachs. We learned that the stomach is a muscle that contains stomach acid which breaks down our food. Of course, a discussion about digestion would not be complete without a hearty conversation about poop.

We explored the heart, what its function is, and took part in an experiment that allowed us to make observations on our changing heart rate. When discussing circulation, the topic of blood comes up, and we were able to explore blood and its components through a sensory activity.
