Summer Science Week 5

8/20/2021

Not all gardens grow in soil! This week, our young scientists learned more about the Lab hydroponic system and explored alternative growing materials. We compared and contrasted characteristics on what makes a good non-soil growing medium. We also planted seeds in a vial to care for and observe at home.

The recent rains provided a perfect opportunity to explore our topic more in depth. What do plants need in water? With our garden soil still damp, it was a perfect opportunity to provide the plants with additional nutrients. The water we provided to our garden plants came with the additional boost of plant food.
