Zebra Tomato

3/17/2020

Last summer we came across a gorgeous zebra tomato. Not only did it look good, it tasted amazing! Sweet and rich, with a sharp little bite to it. So we harvested and saved the seeds (and let them dry before storing them).

Zebra tomatoes start out green with dark stripes and ripen to yellow-ish with green stripes.  This plant thrives in full sun, though extreme summer heat is not preferred. Zebra tomatoes produce a high yield of fruit as early as 75 days after germinating. Our seeds originated from a fruit purchased at the farmer's market, so we're not sure how tall the plant will grow or how the tomatoes will actually look. This is science at its best!

Although tomatoes are delicious, the foliage of the tomato plant is toxic and should not be eaten.
