HOME SCHOOL SCIENCE
The Home School Science program engages young scientists in hands-on exploration that meets national and state science standards. In addition to our topic of exploration, young scientists will actively care for living things at the Lab which includes plants, a turtle, Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, and chickens. Young scientists will participate in activities, explorations, and/or projects that engage them in making observations and hypotheses, expose them to scientific vocabulary, utilizes science tools, and implements the process of the Scientific Method.
Advanced registration is required and space is limited. The Kiddie Science Lab is located at 509 Rogers Avenue, near the corner of Midwood.

Upcoming Topics of Exploration:
Engineering
November 12th/13th to December 10th/11th (5 sessions) (this program does not meet November 27th) **2 spots remain** Ready, set...engineer! We explore, build, and test structures as we learn about force. We learn about boats, bridges, and buildings as we compare and contrast materials and engineering design. Our young scientists participate in engineering challenges that engage them in applying the concepts learned in a hands-on manner. Science and creativity combine during our exploration! This topic of study meets goals and objectives aligned with the following Next General Science Standards- Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions, & Engineering Design The Home School Science program is 100% supported by the program fee, therefore refunds or credits for missed workshops cannot be issued. Space is limited to a maximum of 6 to 8 students per group in order to maximize individualized attention. Advanced registration is required.
Participants are expected to arrive on time to workshops. Grown-ups may wait in the front area, or grab a coffee and snack from the cafe directly next door. |
