Happy New Year 2024

Once again, we rang in the new year at the Kiddie Science Lab with our family-friendly celebration! Thank you for joining us for crafts, science, music, and fun! This year, Mary from The Nightingale Fam blessed us with her amazing voice and made the evening extra special.

Our theme for the evening was 'Stay Cool'. 2023 brought about tremendous challenges, many which felt insurmountable. Struggles were faced, and some were lost. We muddled through some tough times, and while we've walked away tired and bruised, what has been gained along the way is priceless.

We have planted the seeds of science together, and will continue to do so. Cheers to 2024!

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2022

We rang in the new year with crafts, a science exploration, and a dance party! After a brief hiatus, we excitedly welcomed the return of our New Year's Eve celebration at the Lab. Special thanks to Laura from The Sparrow Sisters for amazing live music!

New Year's Eve has always been a fun time at the Lab, and we try to always choose an experiment that has meaning and symbolism. The last time we hosted a new year's party was in 2020, and our theme for that year was catalyst. Our guests in attendance were challenged to be the change, the catalyst, for great things.

This year, taking everything we've experienced and learned, we want to leave you with this: once upon a time, all of humanity thought science was magic (and sometimes witchcraft). Even now that we have explanations, and we understand and know more, science has not ceased to be magical. It hasn't lost its 'wow' factor not one bit.

And so our theme for the new year is more of a reminder. As we face the ups and downs that life will bring us, we hope you're able to take time to appreciate the magic of science. May we experience and delight in its wonder.

And a special thanks to our community of families who always put teamwork forth to ensure a safe and fun time for our youngest future scientists. We appreciate you!!

EVENT RE-CAP: FIRST ANNUAL SIDEWALK PARTY

It was a celebration for the books! Thank you for joining us for the first annual Back To School Sidewalk Party! A few months ago this was a simple idea that was wholeheartedly supported by Assembly Member Brian Cunningham and his amazing staff. It was fantastic to see this idea come to life and be able to connect with our community in a whole new way!

It took many hands and loving hearts to create such an overwhelmingly successful event! Many special thanks to our volunteers, many of whom we met for the first time that day. We appreciate your time and assistance!

Our event sponsors and supporters were the backbone of this event and we are forever grateful for their time and contributions. The selfless generosities gifted to our community is a reminder of the good we can, and must do, every opportunity we get.

On behalf of the community we proudly serve, thank you!

We do it again next year :)

BACK TO SCHOOL SIDEWALK PARTY

Come one, come all! This fun, free, community event is not to be missed! Kiddie Science and the office of Assembly Member Brian Cunningham invite you to the first annual Back To School Sidewalk Party! Taking place on Wednesday, September 7th, this event aims to celebrate the end of summer while connecting the community with valuable resources. 1pm to 4pm on the sidewalk right outside the Kiddie Science Lab @ 509 Rogers Avenue!

Here's what you can get excited about-

100 fully loaded backpacks from a local church organization
Books for age 12 and under from Brooklyn Book Bodega
Health Bucks (8-10 per household) and food resources from Department of Health
Science goodie bags from Kiddie Science
Button making with Private Picassos
Hands-on science activity with STEM Kids NYC
Set your intention for the school year with a collaging activity presented by Brooklyn FAM
Raffles for goodies from Awesome (everyone gets a free ticket, even the kids!)
Giant bubble stations
Music & Dance demonstration from Pixie Pods at 1:30pm and 2:30pm
Science demonstration by Ms. Carmen at 3:15pm

A Mural Unveiling

After weeks of hard work, the Flatbush Faces and Voices mural was unveiled to the community this weekend! Artists Annie and Hana dedicated their artistic expertise and love of community to create this amazing piece. You can learn more about the project HERE. The mural is on display on the corner of Flatbush Ave and Parkside Ave, alongside the wall of the Duane Reade.
