This 6-week program introduces students age 7 to 10 to basic concepts in painting such as color theory, color mixing, brushwork, brush care, composition, perspective, and proportion. Special emphasis is placed on color and how it relates to painting and expression in art. Students will create color wheels, learn about mixing and painting with primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, learn about color masters such as Henri Matisse, and create multiple works on 12”x16” Canvas Paper. Students will be encouraged to create their own personal color palette and think about what colors they’re drawn to, and how to mix those colors on their own.
