It's been a busy season both in and outside of the Kiddie Science Lab! Our young scientists have just completed an in-depth exploration of the natural world around them. This includes our partner school PS 10 in Brooklyn. Over 300 young scientists age 15 months to 9 years, have learned about pine cone anatomy and function, explored leaf characteristics, and learned basic tree identification. Our unifying word was ecology, with dendrochronology being our 'million dollar word'.
Together, we have made observations, hypotheses, and got expected (and unexpected) results. We've had moments of silent concentration, and loud excitement. We have met the needs of the living things at the Lab, which includes a turtle, several species of plants, and two backyard chickens. We made connections with the natural world around us while having fun.
