Below are highlights from moment number 7:
One unique aspect of Kiddie Science is the fact that we work with young scientists as young as two years of age. This year, we had another wonderful opportunity to engage the youngest scientists in exploring the world around them through hands-on experiments. Below are highlights from moment number 7: In 2016, we presented science to over 400 young scientists. Our flagship program, Science Saturdays, continued to engage new and returning young scientists in hands-on science exploration. In moment number 8, we highlight our young scientists, who woke up early on Saturday mornings to explore the wonders of science.
Our efforts to increase access to science education led us to work with City of Science as Science Ambassadors during the Brooklyn and Staten Island events. During both, Ms. Carmen
and other science educators presented at the Walking on Water exhibit. Moment number 9 in our top 16 moments of 2016 highlights the joy of scientific discovery. (check out a video here) Moments number 11, 10 highlight our appreciation for continued relationships. The Kiddie Science program at Lark cafe continued to be a fun program where we had the pleasure of watching our young scientists grow and develop in their learning. During the summer months, we met with our young scientists at Elk cafe, where we marveled at how much they had retained from the summer prior. Both Lark and Elk continue to be local businesess that are proud supporters of our young scientists.
Moment number 12 celebrates community collaboration. During the summer of 2016, Kiddie Science collaborated with Q Gardens, a local, resident-run community garden in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn. That summer, participants of the Family Science program participated in a hands-on exploration of urban agriculture.
