New York State's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program is now accepting college scholarship applications from high school students interested in STEM-related careers. The NYS STEM Incentive Program provides a full State University of New York (SUNY) tuition scholarship to the top 10 percent of students in each state high school if they pursue an associate's or bachelor's STEM degree, while agreeing to live in New York and work in a STEM field for five years after graduation. Recipient receives an annual award for full-time study. For the 2015-2016 academic year, the standard SUNY tuition rate was a maximum of $6,470 per year.
College students interested in working on compost research are invited to apply for the Young Investigator Scholarship. The Young Investigator Scholarship awards a $2,500 scholarship to encourage college-level compost research projects. The goal of the Young Investigator Scholarship is to bring assistance and attention to emerging young professionals in the field of compost research and to spark interest in the future of the composting industry. Applications are accepted through July 29th. |
Interested in being a math or science teacher? The NYS Math and Science Teaching Incentive Program is offered to encourage current college students to pursue careers as secondary math and science teachers (grades 7-12). Awards are made to students attending school at the undergraduate and/or graduate degree level in exchange for five years of full-time employment as secondary education math or science teachers in NYS.
For Master's level students, the New York State Masters-in-Education Teacher Incentive Scholarship Program provides 500 top undergraduate students full graduate tuition awards annually, to pursue their Masters in Education at a SUNY or CUNY college or university. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled full-time in a master's degree in education program and agree to teach in a NYS public elementary or secondary school for five years following completion of his or her degree.
